Introduction
Anat Shenker-Osorio (ASO Communications) presented an exploration of the language used to communicate about work at Progress 2015. She outlined a number of key lessons for communicating a progressive agenda, on work and beyond.
Anat has conducted multiple studies on how people reason about clean energy, sex education, economic justice, immigrants and women’s rights. Past and present clients that have relied on her research to diagnose what’s not working in their messaging and to provide fresh new approaches include: the Ford Foundation, America’s Voice, Opportunity Agenda, Ms Foundation, We Belong Together, the Roosevelt Institute, Congressional Progressive Caucus, Caring Across Generations and CoreAlign.
We cannot meet people where they are because where they are is unacceptable. The job of a good message is to make popular what we need said… The question for us is ‘what do we wish people believed?’
